NATIONAL DAY OF RUSSIA AT EXPO 2019 IN BEIJING

August 24, 10.00 - 18.00

National Day of Russia will take place on August 24, 2019 at the International Horticultural Exhibition EXPO-2019 in Beijing. It will be held on the “Yablochny Spas” (Apple Feast of the Savior) week, which in the national calendar marks the Harvest Festival, the day when nature turns from summer to autumn. Apples and harvest are symbols that are familiar to all guests of the International Horticultural Exhibition.

The exhibition organizers have prepared a concert program, which includes Russian folk and Soviet songs, beloved in China. Characters of Russian cartoons, many of whom are also familiar to Chinese children, will welcome visitors of the Russian Exhibition.

MADE IN RUSSIA brand means quality and environmentally friendly manufacturing in China. Therefore, on this day we treat visitors with products and sweets made in Russia: pancakes, chocolate and sushkas (biscuits), apple jam, compote and, of course, a specialty drink of the Russian exposition at the EXPO - Altai willow herb tea from Russian samovars. There also will be a fair where visitors can purchase goods from Russia.

The official part of the National Day will start at 14.00. Official representatives of Russia and China will greet the guests.

General information

International Horticultural Exhibition EXPO 2019 in Beijing takes place from April 29 to October 7, 2019. The total exhibition area is 960 hectares. More than 100 countries take part in the Exhibition. They will present their knowledge, traditions and innovations in the field of landscape and horticulture. The main subject of the Exhibition is LIVE GREEN, LIVE BETTER expresses the desire of mankind for greater harmony with nature.

Exhibit of Russia

Subject of the Russian exhibit is “Russian Garden: From Roots to Fruits”. Blooming gardens in different regions of Russia and the world-famous play by A. Chekhov formed the image of a Russian garden, bright, summer, fragrant, with shady corners and sunny meadows. 1,800 square meters area includes three art objects, symbolizing the harmony of nature and man in modern parks. Landscapes around them illustrate biological diversity of Russian regions: the middle Russia, the Far East, Crimea and the Caucasus: in total, 87 plants will be represented on the territory of the Russian exhibit. Plants are located taking into account their natural layering: from short-growing to tall plants, shrubs and trees.

The internal exhibition includes a cinema and space for organizing temporary exhibitions. It is planned to broadcast video clips and slide shows on Russian developments and achievements in ecology, botany, breeding, park and landscape art, films about the unique nature and flora of Russia.

Smart garden

The revolutionary pre-format of city parks in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Krasnodar, Tula, Kaliningrad is a worthful experience of modern Russia, which we are proud of and present to the world. Regarding the level of green spaces, the capital of Russia has already overtaken such "park" agglomerations as New York and London.

Exhibit organizers tended to show Russia not only as a country whose inhabitants for hundreds of years, from noble estates to Soviet culture parks, know how and love to implement garden and park projects. Modern Russia actively develops green innovations that help to cultivate cataclysmic garden crops, carefully use soil, and harvest unique tasty fruits from nature. Visitors will learn about developments of leading Russian scientific centers, such as the All-Russian Institute of Gardening named after I.V. Michurin, Novosibirsk State Agrarian University and others.

Commissioner General of Russia

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia Alexey Gruzdev was assigned Commissioner General of Russian participation in EXPO 2019. He is one of the most honored Russian experts on China. He worked as Russia's Trade Representative in the PRC in 2013-2016.
