This complementary relationship is also a direction that the Nepal Pavilion wants to embody and explore in its design.
Garden is a microcosm of nature, and nature is the epitome of the universe and life. People can feel the mystery of the universe through gardens from the point of view. In fact, people can also look at many problems in this way. Science tells us that the genetic code is the origin of life, and must also be the origin of the soul. The soul exists in nature and life, and the soul is also the foundation of nature and life.
Nature creates life, and life reproduces according to rules and natural laws. Human behavior maintains the external law of nature, while nature maintains the inherent stability of soul and life. Ultimately, their relationship between life and human behavior, as well as nature is intertwined and endless. Therefore, we intend to find spirit existing in science and the science achieved from spirit.
Life-Behavior-Nature
Nepal Pavilion will show the commonalities between life, behavior and nature through a spiral architecture, which originates from the Buddhist symbol of reincarnation. These spiral symbols are symbols of harmonious coexistence between cells and plants in nature. Therefore, symbols are also symbols of life, and the operation of nature will multiply life. The meditation advocated by Buddhism is the supreme science of maintaining internal balance. The Pavilion shows the effective combination of the three through spiral architecture.
The vast universe contains truth and everything follows its course. The sunrise and sunset of the sun are the strongest evidence. At night, we stare at the stars, feeling awe and sighing at the vastness and mystery of the universe. Hence God was born here.
On Earth, the universe presents itself in its natural form. The fraternity of the universe and the wonders of nature make mankind awe once again. But what connects human wisdom with natural wisdom? Gratitude is the answer. When we express our gratitude, we open our hearts to accept goodwill, peace and satisfaction arising spontaneously. Hence the soul was born here.
In Nepal, God is everywhere. Gratitude is our way of life. Over the centuries, the excahnge between human and the universe has produced thousands of forms of gratitude, such as thinking, acting, recalling and celebrating. In this process, we arrange our inner home in an orderly manner. We pursue the wisdom of the soul, and we strive to achieve inner balance. What humans seek is the science that is unique in the bright age, not the science that is full of taboos in the information age. Hence Buddha was born here.
There are six billion people living on earth. In the bright age, these people can become Buddhas, but it is very difficult, just like finding pearls in lotus flowers. To realize this possibility through art, we need to find the wisdom of the soul and to excavate the divinity of all things on earth. Then we need to look at the cultural images of worship objects, myths and legends, traditions and characteristics, customs and habits from the perspective of designers. To really see and hear the buzzing of brain cells is like entering the Buddha’s mind. Hence Nepal Pavilion was born here.
The design of the Pavilion follows the spiral structure concept of Fibonacci sequence, with a beautiful Buddha statue dotted with 0 points, and the venue also has the characteristics of Nepalese gardens.
The spiral architecture, taking the ridge as its rudiment, climbs slowly from the surrounding and uplifts like a ridge. Paved on one of the spiraling “ridges”, a pedestrian path is connected to the core area of the Pavilion, along which visitors can enjoy the unique horticultural and cultural landscape. The spiral path ascends from wide to narrow, strictly following the geometric line and surface structure, rising to a semi-closed pagoda, where a Buddha sitting in the center of the pool, will be immediately visible.
On the way to the core exhibition area, a variety of landscapes come into view: rattan, gazebo, plants, flower shed, fountain, pedestal, bedding stones, stakes, bird feeders, bird baths and observation deck. The observation deck combines the two most common architectural styles in the Himalayan region and is presented in the image of a temple. As a mountainous country, Nepal will fully demonstrate its characteristics, especially in the core theme of the World Garden Expo, namely: green development, horticulture in life, integration and blooming, education and future, spiritual home.
There are restaurants, offices, conference halls and other areas are located under the winding path and within the available functional areas. Architectural structure as a whole conceals the artificial building area, so as to strengthen the concept of natural scenery and achieve the effect of venue design.
In short, in the nosiely urban life, people can get a moment of leisure and quiet in Nepalese venues.
Nepal Exhibition Gardens will be presented in the form of Lumbini Peace Park. A small portion of the holy water and soil will be brought from the Lumbini Peace Park and put into the ponds and gardens of the Exhibition Gardens as a gift for the 2019 Beijing World Park Expo. Holy land and holy water will be fully displayed in front of the media to show the purpose of Nepal’s active participation.
Nepal will cooperate with local nurseries to build the Exhibition Grden. Nepal’s native flowers and plants will be planted in the Exhibition Garden, including more than a dozen flowers and plants growing in the Himalayas, such as Cordyceps sinensis. The surrounding temperature of the Garden will be strictly controlled, which will certainly arouse widespread interest from tourists and the media. Temperature in some Nepal exhibition gardens will be strictly controlled to cultivate Himalayan flowers.
In the center of the Nepal Exhibition Graden, a life-size Buddha statue will be placed to attract visitors and show that “The Buddha was born in Nepal”.
