Introduction
No.1 Gate
No.1 Gate, themed on “rites and music,” features a main structure that is 90 meters wide and 12 meters tall. The rite and music culture has penetrated through the millennia-old history of Chinese civilization. Throughout history, rites and music have been used to enlighten people. Music may inspire one to seek self-improvement and understand the law of nature. Rites can make one modest, polite, majestic and orderly. The gate themed on “rites and music” demonstrates China’s grandeur as a great nation of ceremonies and decorum.
BCDH Garden
The Garden of Beijing Capital Development Holding (Group) Co., Ltd. (BCDH) at Beijing Expo 2019 will convey people’s aspiration for future urban settlement with architecture, landscapes and indoor exhibitions. The building in the garden features red, garbled patterns, and through skillful arrangement of such patterns, it creates an architectural design resembling an “unfolding brochure.” The word “Kai” (openness) represents BCDH’s corporate philosophy of “Pioneering, Open-minded and Opening.” Such a design also symbolizes integration and coexistence of man, nature and the environment.
The garden in the rear combines natural terrains and artificial vegetation, and creates an enclosed, private “mountain forest.” Trimmed pines and geometric topography integrate with each other, demonstrating a collision between traditional gardening and modern landscaping. There is also an interactive fountain where children can dance with sprouting water, and a display of the sponge system. Visitors can learn popular science while enjoying landscapes.
Botanical Pavilion
The Botanical Pavilion covers an area of about 10,000 square meters, and its architectural design concept is the “Rising Horizon”. Inspired by plant roots, the surface mechanism of the building spreads downward continuously. It presents the strong vitality of plants hidden underground intuitively to visitors, which not only lets visitors have a strong visual impact, but also leads them to feel the strength of plants roots and then have a wonderful trip to the world of plants.
China Pavilion
One of the main pavilions of the International Horticultural Expo is the China Pavilion, which combines static display with dynamic interpretation according to the exhibition concept of “Living and Splendid China”, matches physical flower art with virtual artistic conception, pursues the long history of Chinese horticulture, watches the brilliant masterpieces of China’s horticulture, and appreciates the rhythm and vitality of mountains, rivers, forests, fields and lakes. It focuses on Chinese ecological culture with horticulture as the carrier, gathers the achievements of horticultural industry, ecological civilization construction in 31 provinces and municipalities of China and the frontier achievements explored by scientific research institutes, displaying the flower arrangement art of China’s intangible cultural heritage, creating a display platform for the development achievements of China’s horticultural industry and high-tech achievements, creating a demonstration window for the beautiful achievements of China’s construction in the new era, and building China’s horticultural ecological culture inheritance and innovation of communication space.
The exhibition area of the China Pavilion is 15,000 square meters, which is divided into four major exhibition areas, including China’s ecological and cultural exhibition area, China’s provincial and municipal horticultural industry achievement exhibition area, China’s horticultural universities and scientific research institutions’ scientific research achievements exhibition area, and China’s intangible cultural heritage flower arrangement art exhibition area.
Gansu Garden
The winding Yellow River, the splendid ancient Silk Road and the gorgeous Dunhuang culture...Gansu, the ancient and mysterious western region of China is famous for the ancient Silk Road due to its colorful legends and romantic appeal. The Dunhuang culture is the most dazzling partof the Silk Road culture. It is a precious treasure bestowed by Gansu upon the whole world. The Gansu Garden of Beijing Expo 2019 will represent the symbols of Dunhuang culture, such as“an apsara playing the pipa behind her back”and“the nine-floored building of Mogao Grottoes”, by using artistic means to show the colorful and gorgeous picture of the Silk Road.
International Pavilion
One of the main pavilions in the International Horticultural Expo is the International Pavilion, which takes the concept of “blending and blooming” as the exhibition concept. It adopts the multi-dimensional way of “object plus Multimedia plus interaction plus atmosphere” to describe the global horticultural culture stories such as the stories along “the Belt and Road” and assemble unique horticultural achievements and contributions from all over the world. The official exhibitors display their unique horticultural features and regional culture, and hold seven kinds of special international flower contest exhibitions, such as the 2019 World Flower Contest, city flower rose and chrysanthemum, show the development level of horticultural industry, and build a bridge of “openness and inclusiveness, win-win cooperation, inheritance and innovation” in the world through horticulture.
The exhibition area of the International Pavilion is 12770 square meters. It is divided into four major exhibition areas, including sunken square, preface hall, national (regional) and international organization exhibition area, special international contest exhibition area for the indoor flowers.
Singapore Garden
The over all design of the Singapore an Exhibition Garden is a large greenhouse,which mainly showcases tropical orchids with distinctive features.The garden is divided into several functional areas,including “Orchid Tour”, “Origin of Orchid”, “Orchid Education” and “Little Red Spot”.Coconut trees,orchidspecimens,top orchids,red water lilies and freshwater wetland plants will be displayed there.Among them,“Little Red Spot” is a sphere 2 meters in diameter,its surface is wrapped by epiphytic plants,the above three display areas converge here,as the center of the garden.The whole garden can be used as a place for children to visit in the field.There will be various animal models and animal footprints in the garden.Children can discover and record the animals found according to various clues and participate in the competition.
Living Experience Pavilion
As one of the main pavilions of the Internaitonal Horticultural Expo, the Living Experience Hall, according to the exhibition concept of “love gardening, love life”, combines several ways, such as static display, dynamic display, vision, hearing and interactive experience, centres on the plant diversity, coffee, tea, and traditional crafts so that visitors can experience gardening in clothing, food, housing, use, entertainment and health, and makes them experience that horticulture lets life become better. In the Living Experience Pavilion, visitors can also experience the herbal culture, understand the regional characteristics and industrial achievements of Yanqing, the host city, experience the interrelationship between meteorology, aerospace, and horticulture and life, experience the novelty and fantasy of horticulture encountering science and technology, and design our own horticultural living space by ourselves. With horticulture as the medium, people are guided to respect, conform to and protect nature.
The exhibition area of the Living Experience Pavilion is 9400 square meters. It is divided into four major exhibition areas, including preface hall, popular science horticulture exhibition area, living horticulture exhibition area and special horticulture exhibition area.
