The Yunnan Garden is uniquely designed, with mountains as itsmatrix and rivers its veins, linked by paths and dotted by buildings, representing a primitive kingdom of plants. Unfolding the design drawing of the Yunnan Garden, a mysterious and colorful tour starts.

This is a colorful garden with an area of 3,000 squaremeters. From north to south, the Tea Horse Road winds through it.The garden is dotted by paths, streams and rocks, showcasing“twelve scenes”-“auspicious elephants welcoming guests”,“peacock dancing square”,“tea whispering”,“wind, flower, snow and moon”,“lakeside mountains”,“fragrant land”,“marks of Tea Horse Road”,“mountains and waterfalls”,“mountainside pavilion”,“flower terrace”,“cherry blossom valley”and“rock forest”.

“Beautiful mountains and rivers! Magnificent and colorful Yunnan!”Two months ago,the experts and spectators were amazed at the beauty of the Yunnan Garden when it debuted in front of the jury.Fan Xiang, the designer, said,“If the ancient Tea Horse Road is a vine, the paths, streams and rocks are its twigs and leaves, and the "twelve scenes" are the shining pearls.”

As a native of Yunnan, Fan Xiang has a vision - let the world see the most original and authentic Yunnan in Beijing Expo 2019.

“The first scene 'auspicious elephants welcoming guests' is in front of the garden’. It is rooted inDaiculture. The Dai people regard elephants and peacocks assymbols of good luck. However, the elephants inXishuangbanna look unique. Therefore, getting close to the Dai people and drawing inspiration from their ethic buildings and costumes can help us present the authentic local elephants,”said Fan Xiang.

Passing the porch, the scenes keep changing before your eyes.Alively green peacock is very eye-catching.This is the second scene“peacock dancing square”where there are colorfulmosaicpatterns under your feet and fresh flowersin front of your eyes, symbolizing the passion and colorfulness of Yunnan. Following the Tea Horse Road, you will see a small sculpture entitled“tea whispering”, demonstrating the process of making Pu'er Tea.The footprints of horses on the road tell the history of ancient Tea Horse Road. The scene of“wind, flower, snow and moon”reminiscesYunnan Stage,a strategic town on the ancient Tea Horse Road…

In order to turn the design drawing into a real scenery of mountains and rivers, the Yunnan Garden will use tens of thousands of plants and keep changing them fromnext April to October to ensurethe fabulous scenery is always there.
