Qinghai, located in the northeastern part of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, with the Bayan Har Mountains, the Anyemaqen Mountains and the Tanggula Mountains as its backbone, is the confluence of three great rivers. Therefore, it’s dubbed the Chinese Water Tower.Several lofty mountains such as Kunlun and Qilian stand on the plateau. It’s crisscrossed with magnificent glaciers and rivers. Our mother rivers, namely the Yellow River and the Yangtze River, originate from this land and wind through the vast territory of China. Unfolding the blueprint of the Qinghai Garden of Beijing Expo2019, you can see the following five sceneries -“Three-River-Source”,“Beautiful Qinghai, Ecological Picture”,“Splendid Hometown,Hehuang Houses”,“Tang-Tubo Ancient Road and New Silk Road”and“Legendary Plateau Animal - Tibetan Antelope”. Using the“Green Business Cards”of Qinghai, including the Three-River-Source National Park and the Kekexili National Reserveas its main elements, the garden depicts the unique natural features and distinctive characteristics of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.

In the second scenery“Beautiful Qinghai, Ecological Picture”,a set of green walls of varying heights are used to portray the charm of the Three-River–Source National Park and the magnificent beauty of the natural sceneries of Qinghai. At the center of the exhibition garden, there is a lakein the same shape as the Qinghai Lake, dotted with wetland and waterfowl scenes. It displays the natural resources with unique plateau characteristics. On the west of the waterscape is“Pavilion of Sun and Moon”, named after a famous mountain in Qinghai, showcasing the fascinating beauty of Qinghai Plateau.

“Tang-Tubo Ancient Road and New Silk Road”is the fourth scenery of the exhibition garden. Its design is expressed in a combination of green walls. The surfaces of the walls carry artistic patterns to depict the routes of“New Silk Road”and“Tang-Tubo Ancient Road”. A set of green walls with hollowed-out patterns are used to reflect the rich historical and cultural elements of Qinghai.

In the east of the exhibition garden, a group of Tibetan antelope sculptures are used to create an alpine meadow landscape, showcasing the charm of Kekexili, dubbed“the place of tens of thousands of mountains, the land of thousands of lakes and the kingdom of animals”. This is the last scenery of the garden -“Legendary Plateau Animal - Tibetan Antelope”.

The whole garden combines green, culture and nature to reflect the beautiful sceneries of Qinghai. In addition, the garden is also a collection of unique plants of Qinghai to reflect the excellent environment in the alpine desert ecosystem.
