Hebei is the birthplace of the spirit of Saihanba and the support area of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei ecological environment. The Hebei Garden with the theme of Signs of Hebei will use unique gardening techniques to show the beautiful landscape of the province.
The Hebei Garden is divided into three parts: Taihang Mountain, Baiyangdian Lake, and Saihanba. Along the sightseeing path are the six major landscapes: Taihang Mountain, Feats Tree, Watch Tower, Water and Green Hall, Roof Garden and Mirror Lake.
Taihang Mountain is the mother mountain of Hebei. As a green barrier in Hebei, it reflects the emotions and memories of the people of Hebei. At the entrance of the Hebei Garden are found four mountains that are arranged one after the other, with undulating and high mountains being constructed with the unique Baipo yellow stones from Taihang Mountain. This is a reference to the majestic landscape of Taihang Mountain. Around the four mountains are planted pines, pomegranate trees and apple trees, in addition to the potted landscapes of plants and fruit trees, which are extremely characteristic of the Taihang Mountain and fully demonstrate its local rich cultural traditions.
Feats Tree is an old larch. It is a witness to the miracle of Saihanba transforming from a single tree to a sea of trees. It is the source of hope and a witness to the miraculous transformation. The nearby Linyuan Veranda is inspired by the original simple shacks of the Saihanba people and represents the spirit of the Saihanba people who are not afraid of hardships, work hard and build a beautiful home.
Watch Tower, at the commanding height of the Hebei Garden, draws on the Watch Tower of Saihanba which is used to watch for fires in forests. Around the Watch Tower are lush trees, flowing rivers, blooming flowers, tall and magnificent pine trees, beautiful white birches, vast Mongolian oaks and beautifulacer monoes.
Water and Green Hall is a result of the evolution from the traditionalliang shuai xiuarchitectural style of Hebei. The name of Water and Green Hall was taken from a line of the poem of Zhu Xi in the Song Dynasty, “a place of water and green (han bi), the forest has turned red.” Water and Green Hall is located at the foot of Watch Tower and on the bank of the Mirror Lake. To the west is a boutique garden. The green grass in the garden with various kinds of landscape trees such as Euonymus, Ginkgo biloba and Pinus tabulaeformis, as well as flowers and shrubs of various colors, are in harmony with the vast forests and Watch Tower.
The roof of Water and Green Hall is turned into a beautiful Roof Garden, showing a new trend of future urban development, which allows people to remain close to nature and enjoy harmony with nature. This is in line with the Expo theme of “Live Green, Live Better.”
