On April 13, the Beijing International Horticultural Expo(BIHE) launched its first trial operation of half-load stress testing. 424 volunteers took their first job. They were distributed in 100 positions of 18 business departments in the BIHE Park. They participated in eight types of operation and management assistance, including the inquiry services, order guidance, reception assistance, language translation, media services, organization work coordination, visiting assistance and activity organization assistance.
The volunteers mainly come from Century College of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications in Yanqing, and they will serve as reserved volunteers during the BIHE to guarantee the emergency service needs of volunteers in special periods such as major events and extremely large passenger flows. At 7:00 a.m., the volunteers entered the Park dressed in uniforms and joined the business department of the Park at the first time. They arrived at their posts in batches and served in groups. They received nearly 30,000 visitors all day. In the process of tourist service, most visitors focused on the catering, bathroom and battery car station in the Park. Volunteers received nearly 8,000 inquiries throughout the day.

After voluntary services, in order to guarantee the volunteers to carry out service work in an all-round and professional way, besides familiarizing with the Park, understanding the posts, mastering service and etiquette standards, the BIHE Bureau(BIHEB) has also strengthened the professional training of voluntary emergency responses, inviting experts to conduct on-site teaching. Staff officer Zhao Xiaofeng and Captain Zhu Jingxuan of Yanqing District Fire Brigade gave detailed explanations on fire prevention and extinguishing knowledge, focusing on how to use fire extinguishers and how to use volunteer’s mineral water to extinguish fire. Teacher Zhang Xiaochuan of the Training Department of Beijing Emergency Center conducted on-site demonstration teaching on professional knowledge of bare-handed cardiopulmonary resuscitation and trauma emergency. The training enables volunteers to understand the concept of first aid, establish first aid awareness, master first aid principles, learn first aid skills, and enhance their ability in the Park to deal with emergencies.
