The Botanical Pavilion

05-08/2019

The Botanical Pavilion covers an area of about 10,000 square meters, and its architectural design concept is the “Rising Horizon”. Inspired by plant roots, the surface mechanism of the building spreads downward continuously. It presents the strong vitality of plants hidden underground intuitively to visitors, which not only lets visitors have a strong visual impact, but also leads them to feel the strength of plants roots and then have a wonderful trip to the world of plants.

The Botanical Pavilion is divided into three floors. The first floor is equiped with a tropical plant greenhouse, covering an area of about 3000 square meters, gathering more than 600 precious plants. There are 5 exhibition areas and 12 scenic spots, which are used to show the diversity of the plant kingdom and the wisdom of plant survival and adaptation to the environment through mangroves, tropical rainforests, ferns, palms, pulpy plants, insectivorous plants and moss. The artificial mangroves reproduce the characteristics of viviparous growth, pillar roots and salt secretion evolved by mangroves adapting to the fluctuation of ocean tides, and highlight the ecological functions of coastal guards. The tropical rainforests focus on displaying the competition and synergy between plants, plants and animals, such as aerial gardens, stand-alone forests, old stem flowers, dripping leaf tips, mega-leaf phenomena, strangulation phenomena, etc. The palm plants and ferns show their excellent wisdom of spreading and reproduction; plasma plants evolve their ability to adapt to arid environments through the metamorphosis of stems and leaves; insectivorous plants feed themselves on meat; and how dwarf moss in the plant kingdom to find their own living space. Through a series of high-tech creative techniques, the Pavilion fully demonstrates the “wisdom of plants” to visitors, calling on human beings to protect plants, care for the earth, and pay attention to the future of mankind.

The second floor of the building is a multi-functional green lecture hall. During the event, thematic exhibitions such as mangrove and plant science paintings will be held one after another. Climbing from the first floor to the second and third floors along the vertical traffic path in the eastern part of the exhibition hall, you can enjoy the beautiful view of mangrove canopy from a high altitude.

In addition, the roof design of the Botanical Pavilion is also a bright spot. The roof viewing platform has CITIC Botanical Theme Coffee Bookstore and Souvenir Store. Standing here, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Beijing International Horticultural Expo, such as the Guishui River, Haituo Mountain, China Pavilion and Tiantian Mountain.
