At the exposition, Beijing Expo 2019 promoted its theme “Live Green, Live Better” and demonstrated its preparation work to over 700 exhibitors and nearly 300,000 visitors, inviting them to visit the horticultural expo to be held at the foot of the Great Wall in Beijing next year.

As a national-level event, the CTIE aims to promote coordinated development of tourism in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, deepen the supply-side structural reform in the tourism sector, and accelerate integrated development of tourism industries. So far, it has developed into a large-scale tourism exhibition and a famous brand of Chinese tourism. This year’s exposition covered exhibition areas totaling 50,000 square meters, with 3,000 standard booths. According to categories of exhibits, they were divided into the exhibition zone for tourism of provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions, cruise, yacht and RV camping exhibition zone, international tourism exhibition zone, Belt and Road international travel products exhibition zone, tourist hotel and travel agency products transaction zone, tourism-plus industrial integrated development exhibition zone, and tourism innovation projects alignment and trade fair zone.
At the event, the adorable mascots of Beijing Expo 2019 attracted many visitors, who browsed the brochures of the Expo to look for hot information about the site of the Expo Park, ticket policies, theme activities and neighboring scenic spots. Staff members from Beijing International Horticultural Expo Coordination Bureau (BIHECB) elaborated basic information of the Expo Park, design plans of relevant gardens, specialized exhibitions and displays, cultural and tourist events, and the preparation work of the Expo.

Representatives of many professional tourism-oriented exhibitors at the exposition, including travel agencies, hotels, and culture and media organizations, consulted BIHECB staff on issues such as tickets, group purchase and cultural and publicity cooperation, in hopes to participate in Beijing Expo 2019.
A lot of visitors noted that the horticultural expo is attractive, and hoped that they could personally visit the expo after it kicks off in Yanqing District, Beijing next year, so as to enjoy beautiful scenery featuring blooming flowers and picturesque landscapes and experience colorful cultural and tourist activities in the Expo Park.
Beijing Expo 2019 is the highest-level and largest-scale international event hosted by China after the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. It is estimated that some 100 countries and international organizations and 100 nongovernmental organizations will participate in the Expo, which will showcase horticultural achievements involving flowers, fruits, vegetables, medicinal herbs and tea from 31 Chinese provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions as well as Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, attracting at least 16 million visitors from around the world. The theme of the Expo is “Live Green, Live Better,” and its subthemes are “Green Development,” “Horticulture in Life,” “Integrated Blooming,” “Education and Future” and “Home of Soul.” The core area of Beijing Expo 2019 covers 503 hectares in the west of Yanqing District, an ecological reserve area in Beijing, about 10 kilometers away from the Badaling Great Wall. With an aim to build a pilot demonstration zone for ecological civilization and a demonstration area for the Beautiful China initiative, the planning and construction of the Expo Park sticks to the concept of “prioritizing on ecology and learning from nature” and guides people to respect and protect nature with gardening as the media, so as to create a “big garden” when citizens can be close to nature and embrace green and an ideal place for Chinese and foreign tourists to seek recreation and leisure.
Beijing Expo 2019 skillfully mingles unique architectures with landscapes, making them be harmoniously integrated into nature. The China Pavilion revives the charm of classical Chinese architecture and showcases the splendor of the Chinese Dream. The International Pavilion features a sea of flowers and zigzagging streams. The Life Experience Pavilion presents a countryside market that kindles visitors’ reminiscence of rural life. The Vegetation Pavilion, with a theme on plants, inspires tourists to care for nature. The Performing Arts Center looks like a butterfly dancing amidst mountains and rivers and provides colorful performances that add colors to people’s lives. In addition, the Expo Park also includes the Tiantian Hill featuring vast croplands and blooming mountain flowers, the poetic Guirui Lake featuring rippling water, and the Yongning Pavilion where once can overlook the Great Wall in the south and the Haituo Mountain in the north. The Chinese gardens concentrate horticultural achievements of 31 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions as well as Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, while international gardens will showcase the quintessence of rare flowers and various genres of horticulture from more than 70 countries. With an open, inclusive and integrated attitude, Beijing Expo 2019 will enable tourists from both home and abroad to be intoxicated in beautiful landscapes and pastoral dreams. A wide range of cultural and art performances, as well as various professional and cutting-edge academic forums, will be organized during the Expo. Moreover, the Expo Park will provide considerate catering, accommodation, transportation, shopping and travel facilities for visitors, thus creating a comfortable and pleasant tourist environment.
Beijing Expo 2019 will work together with local scenic resorts such as the Badaling Great Wall, Beijing Wild Duck Lake National Wetland Park, competition venues of Beijing Winter Olympics, Longqing Gorge, and Four-Season Sea of Flowers to stimulate the development of Beijing’s horticultural industry and create a new growth point for tourist and cultural consumption in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
