Ticket Media CenterWhen the countdown to the Beijing Expo 2019 is less than 200 days, the preparation for it has gained wide attention. On October 29, Bernard Oosterom, Chairman of International Association of Horticultural Producers(IAHP), Zhang Qixiang, the Vice Chairman, Tim Briercliffe, the Secretary General and Terrif Evans, the International Relations Manager inspected and supervised the preparation of Beijing Expo 2019 and listened to the report on the progress in the preparation work.
The team of four from AIPH went to the park area of Beijing Expo 2019 to inspect and supervise the preparation and construction work on site as soon as they arrived. Accompanied by Wu Gang, Deputy Director of Beijing World Horticultural Expo Coordination Bureau, and Zhang Yinchao, Deputy Secretary General of China Flower Association, they inspected the progress in park construction on site and listened to the report on the preparation for the Beijing Expo 2019.

On the morning of the 30th, Zhou Jianping, Executive Deputy Director of Beijing World Horticultural Expo Coordination Bureau, presided over the meeting to report and exchange opinions on the progress in the preparation of Beijing Expo 2019. Liu Shuren, Inspector of the Department of Ecological Protection and Restoration under National Forestry and Grassland Administration, Zhang Liang, Deputy Minister of the Department for Promotion of Investment under China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Liu Hong, Secretary General of China Flower Association, Deputy Secretary General Zhang Yinchao and Peng Hongming, Wu Shijiang, Deputy District Governor of Yanqing District of Beijing, Lin Jinwen, Chief Economist of Beijing World Horticultural Expo Coordination Bureau, and other leaders attended the meeting.
According to Zhou Jianping, the design of construction drawings for public landscapes, roads, power and key pavilions has been completed according to the overall layout of the Park area characterized by “one center, two axes, three belts, multiple zones”to actively promote the construction of infrastructure and supporting facilities of the Expo park.
At present, core pavilions like the China Pavilion and the International Pavilion has entered the period of internal and exterior decoration, electrical installation and outdoor construction and it would soon transfer to the exhibition and closing stage. Most buildings of supporting services has entered the period of internal and exterior decoration. The “double 100” goal for recruitment of exhibitors has been fully realized. The construction of the exhibition park is accelerating. Over 120 non-official exhibitors from 31 provinces, regions and municipalities, Hong Kong SAR, Macao SAR, and Taiwan in China, as well as well-known universities , research institutes, professional associations, and enterprises have confirmed to participate in the expo.The publicity and promotion of Beijing Expo 2019 is in full swing. The preparation for the exhibition has been completed. The series of activities during the expo have been basically determined. The operation and comprehensive support of the park area have been gradually perfected.

In addition, the year 2018 is a decisive year for the successful organization of Beijing Expo 2019. The Beijing World Horticultural Expo Coordination Bureau will ensure that all preparations will be pushed forward in an orderly manner to lay a solid foundation for the successful opening of the expo in April 2019. Zhou expressed that major work for the next step include: firstly, the infrastructure inside and outside the park area should be connected to ensure that they could be put into use as scheduled; secondly, the supporting service system should be perfected through coordinating different service resources; thirdly, the promoting and publicity should be strengthened to creating better atmosphere; fourthly, the plan for smart tourism should be made and improved; fifthly, the commanding system for the expo should be established; and sixthly, the safeguard plan should be excised and implemented. At the same time, the indoor exhibition plan design, review and construction will be fully launched in November.
Wu Shijiang, Deputy District Governor of Yanqing District of Beijing, said that Yanqing District, as the place to held Beijing Expo 2019, has gradually completed the infrastructure construction around the park area, orderly promoted the comprehensive support and service during the expo, and fully enhanced the development of horticulture industry. The atmosphere of the world expo is getting stronger and stronger. Next, the district will cooperate with the Beijing World Horticultural Expo Coordination Bureau to complete the construction of the park area, promote the construction of supporting facilities and ensure the service during the expo. Meanwhile, it will also actively promote the development of regional horticultural industry.

Zhang Liang, Deputy Minister of the Department for Promotion of Investment under China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, said that China Council for the Promotion of International Trade has always attached great importance to the participation in the preparations for the Beijing Expo 2019. China Council for the Promotion of International Trade will bring its pivotal role for internal and external connection into full play and spare no efforts to make the Beijing Expo a new benchmark for the A1 World Horticultural Exposition together with National Forestry and Grassland Administration, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Beijing Municipal Government.

Liu Hong, Secretary General of China Flower Association, said that China Flower Association will follow the overall planning of the organization committee of Beijing Expo 2019 and take the inspection and supervision of AIPH as an opportunity to further give full play to the professional advantages and bridge role to promote the preparatory work jointly with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and Beijing World Horticultural Expo Coordination Bureau.

The team of AIPH spoke highly of the preparation for Beijing Expo 2019 and made suggestions on the international recruitment of exhibitors, publicity and promotion, innovation of new plant varieties and subsequent use of the park, and so on.
Tim Briercliffe expressed that he is pleased with the coordinated and orderly arrangement for the preparations for the Beijing Expo every time. He made several suggestions. Firstly, the construction of gardens and pavilions of participating countries should be smoothly promoted; secondly, international publicity platform should be used as much as possible for promotion and publicity to attract more foreign visitors to the expo; and thirdly, reasonable use mode should be explored to ensure the sustainable use and development of the park area.

Bernard Oosterom said that the preparation for Beijing Expo 2019 is progressing smoothly. The planning and construction for the gardens, pavilions and public landscapes in the park reflect the concept of green, ecological, and harmonious coexistence between man and nature. “Four Pavilions and One Center” including the China Pavilion and the International Pavilion, are novel in building, advanced in technology, diversified in plant species, and excellent in growth, which lays a solid foundation for the planting in public landscapes. AIPH will provide greater support and guidance for the preparations of Beijing Expo 2019. He also hoped that AIPH garden with be a highlight of the Beijing Expo 2019.

Since AIPH permitted the organization of Beijing Expo 2019 on September 29, 2012, Beijing World Horticultural Expo Coordination Bureau has followed the commitments to the international community during the bidding, focused on the theme “Live Green, Live Better”, striven to make new breakthroughs in planning and construction, participation service, exhibition, promotion and publicity, and comprehensive support to ensure the smooth opening of the Beijing Expo 2019 in April 2019.
