Welcome to the villages of the Zhuang ethnic group in Guangxi to experience the beautiful sceneries and the enchanting Zhuang culture and listen to the fascinating stories of Guangxi. The Guangxi Garden of Beijing Expo 2019, with the theme of“Colorful Dreamland of Zhuang People”, will lead the visitors from all over the world to enjoy its colorful sceneries with rich cultural connotations via the following five attractions - Welcoming Guests in Zhuang Village,Flowered Lake Reflecting Buildings,Dense Bamboo Forest,Sky Gallery and Beautiful Mountains in Guangxi.
Stepping into the Guangxi Garden, the first scene comes to your sight will be Welcoming Guests in Zhuang Village. Its design is based on the unique cultural elements and the distinctive local plants of Guangxi. Vertically, on the green wall, the lush and verdant plants contrast with the strong and vigorous weathering steel, inlaid with Huashan figures, hollowed-out or relief, forming a delightful contrast. The railings resembling a Zhuang brocade blur the main scenery of the garden, arousing the visitors’eagerness to come inside to have a clearer look.Horizontally, the ground is paved with the pattern of bronze drums which are unique in Guangxi, and the multi-zoned garden combines modern and traditional charms of Guangxi.
Strolling forward, one can see the Flowered Lake Reflecting Buildings, or the the core scene of the garden. The topography of the garden is high in the east and low in the west.On the eastern mountainside stands the Embroidery Building, which is surrounded by mountains and rivers, forming acontrasting scenery with the viewing platform which stands on its opposite side.Water cascades down from the top of the mountains and flows through the Embroidery Building to the lake at the center, making it look like a“flowing water villa”.Situated on south of the Embroidery Building are terraced flower fields, bordering the winding bamboo corridor on the north. The shimmering lake reflects Zhuang buildings, flowered island and flower fields, making them more graceful and elegant.
As a Chinese poem goes -“One can eat without meat, but cannot live without bamboo”. The northern area of the garden is the Dense Bamboo Forest, the third scene featured with bamboos. Here, bamboo is used as the background so that visitors can stroll in the dense bamboo forest. Here, bamboo leaves cast shadows and fragrant flowers shake heads. This area is dotted with pavilions(for the visitors to have a rest), a characteristic bamboo corridor and a green wall.Visitors can roam leisurely in it. Walking through the bamboo forest, you will be greeted by the Sky Gallery.Together with the exquisitely designed railings, ground, stairs and paths, a creative space characterized by multiple planes is formed. The Sky Gallery not only shows Guangxi’s achievements in building“Belt and Road”,but also serves as a fabulous viewing spot for visitors. In the east of the garden stands the fifth scene“Beautiful Mountains in Guangxi”. Here, through landscaping,a beautiful mountain is formed, decorated with distinctive plants, unfolding a fabulous scenery of mountains and rivers.
The design of the five scenes of the Guangxi Garden is based on the unique cultural elements of Guangxi - the stilted buildings in Zhuang villages, the embroidered balls which are the unique auspicious symbol of Zhuang ethnic group, the colorful Zhuang brocades, the bronze drums with exquisite workmanship, the cultural heritage Huashan rock paintings and the mysterious local legends. The design combines tradition with modernity and adheres to the philosophy of“letting horticulture integrate into life”through the proper arrangement of rockeries, plants, waterscapes and buildings to create the five major scenic spots. At the same time, the skyflower corridor and the paths on the ground connect all the scenic spots and lead the visitorsunto a journey to experience the wonderful dreamland of the Zhuang people.
