Visitors can relax in the“urban guest room”, or play in the“water-seeking space”, or interact with nature in the“smart garden”.The Tianjin Garden of Beijing Expo 2019 willpresent a diversified and graceful Tianjin to the world.
“The design of the whole exhibition garden originatesfromthe Fifth Avenue in Tianjin, an area of Western-style buildings. Its wide streets and narrow alleysshowcase the charm of Tianjin,”saidthe designer Chen Liang.Tianjin is featured with the confluence of port culture, old city culture, folk culture, concession culture and industrial culture.Therefore, the exhibition gardenis designed to encompass 8 spaces -entrance space,urban guest room space, water-listening space,water-seeking space,water-reading cafe space, folk fair space,smart garden space and water Zen pavilion space, to exhibit differentcultural elements.
The wall is designedto include the following elements - the Chinese character“Jin”and the rivers running through Tianjin, and the door frame is very special, which can be identifiedon all four sides.This is the entrance space of the Tianjin Garden, conveying the spirit of the city - openness and transparency.After entering the garden, the open“urban guest room”can be seen.The video on Tianjin's landscaping efforts in recent years is continuously played on the LED screen.Visitors gather here to enjoy and relax.Following the route, you will enter thewater-listening space.The exhibition gallery here showcases about 100 contemporary abstract paintings, interpreting thecharacteristics of Tianjin. Accompanied by the whispering of water,the visitors can sit, watch or walk on.
Afterwards, the visitors can play in the“water-seeking space”in the southeast of the garden, or enjoy a cup of fragrant coffee near the waterat the“water-reading cafe”, ortaste the flavor of Tianjin culture, a combination of Chinese and Western cultures, at the "folk fair”in the north, or experience smart irrigationinthe“smart garden”via the EDYN intelligent planting detection system, the smart watering system and the Philips lighting system whichcan simulate sunlight.
After water listening, water seeking and water reading, visitors will enter the water Zen pavilion, the core ofthe Tianjin Garden. Here, the large water surface and the surrounding walls define its space, and the contrasts of“simple and complex”,“introvert and extrovert”,“Zen and secular”and“quiet and noisy”enlighten the visitors on the spirit of Zen.
"The Tianjin Garden is green, eco-friendly, low-carbon, spongy and zero energy consumption. It not only demonstrates Tianjin'sgeographical features and cultural elements, but also brings a highly greenexperience to the visitors,”said Chen Liang.
