Ticket Media CenterAt 11:08 am, January 19, 2018, the main structures of the China pavilion of Horticultural Expo 2019 were completed as the last concrete was poured on the roof.
Inspired by a traditional Chinese symbol of good luck,ru yi,an S-shaped ornamental object usually made of jade, the China pavilion carries best wishes for the Chinese people and their country. Occupying an area of 48,000 square meters, this project has a total architectural area of 23,000 square meters. It is very difficult to build this complex structure which uses a total of 40,000 cubic meters.
More than 600 construction workers and 30 managers have been working around the clock at the construction site since the beginning of construction. The China pavilion sets an Expo record by being the first to have its main structures completed. The project management team from Beijing Urban Construction Group managed a construction team of more than 600 construction workers of different departments who worked around the clock at a high speed. In the process, they had to put in additional resources and face many working environment and technical difficulties, including flood prevention in the rainy season, low temperature in the winter, varied building structures, arc walls, arched beams, specially shaped columns, extraordinary heights, sizes and specifications.
In 2018, the China pavilion will enter the stage of secondary structural, curtain wall, refined decoration, and landscaping projects. The concealed work of infrastructure projects have been completed, in addition to the main structures of the three main buildings. Leveling work has been completed for International and National Gardens, which are now ready for work by onsite construction teams. Work can start after provincial-level construction plans are approved. In 2018, work will also begin in outdoor exhibition projects and the main structures of the Expo’s hotels and auxiliary facilities will be completed.
