In order to promote the 2019 Beijing International Horticultural Exposition and invite relevant exhibitors,Zhou Jianping, Executive Deputy Director-General of World Horticultural Exposition Coordination Bureau,led a team to visit the UK and Spain from May 24th to 31st,where they issued invitations for the expo.The visit was made at the invitation of the International Association of Horticultural Producers (hereinafter as AIPH) and Ministry of Agriculture of Spain.
In the UK, the delegation paid a visit to Secretary General of AIPH Tim Briercliffe and reported current progress of domestic and international expo invitation and planning,construction and publicity of World Horticultural Exposition.Both sides discussed matters regarding European AIPH members participating in the exhibition.The delegation also held talks with the Royal Horticultural Society, exchanged with representatives of related enterprises,communicated on expo matters with the British Government,the Royal Horticultural Society and related enterprises participating in the exhibition.In addition, the delegation learned much from the advanced techniques of Chelsea Flower Show in terms of gardening exhibition, landscape layout and operation management, etc.
In Spain,the delegation paid a visit to Ministry of Agriculture of Spain, met representatives of Bureau of Fruit and Vegetable, Bureau of Food Promotion and Bureau of International Trade Relations of Ministry of Agriculture. The delegation introduced the basic situation of display and demonstration in World Horticultural Exposition,listened to the introduction of Ministry of Agriculture of Spain about Spanish gardening featured products and development prospect,and communicated with Spanish partners regarding their participation in the exhibition. Representatives of Ministry of Agriculture of Spain expressed their active willingness of participation and said that they would collate related materials as soon as possible and launch the deliberation procedure for the government to participate in Beijing International Horticultural Exposition.
During the stay in Spain, the delegation also paid a visit to Chinese Ambassador to Spain Lu Fan, introduced the content of display and requirements of World Horticultural Exposition,and the current progress of international invitation and planning construction, and they reported their communication with Ministry of Agriculture of Spain. Ambassador Lu Fan said that after receiving the invitation letter signed and issued by Premier Li Keqiang, the Embassy paid high attention to this event and delivered the invitation letter to Ministry of Agriculture, the responsible organ, via Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Spain as soon as possible. Spain is a European country that participates in the strategic cooperation initiative “Belt and Road”, and Beijing International Horticultural Exposition will be an important platform for promoting pragmatic cooperation between two countries.
